Have you ever driven I-10 east from Tucson and wondered, while passing through Texas Canyon west of Willcox, what it would be like to walk among those spectacular granite boulder formations? Now you can.
Teaming up with project lead Sirena Rana of Trails Inspire www.trailsinspire.com, we worked on design and construction project management for the Amerind Foundation, which owns about 2,000 acres of land that includes many of those formations. Design took place in December 2022, and construction in February-March 2023. The trails will be open to the public in October 2023. People can register and pay a small fee at the Amerind Museum.
As trail projects go, they don’t get much better than this. We had amazing landscapes for route finding, with sustainable options throughout. The people at the Amerind Foundation were perfect partners, and the highly skilled and flexible construction crew from Flagline Trails www.flaglinetrails.com brought it all together.
